It offers a comprehensive set of features including dual pre-outs, dual phono inputs with a high-quality MM phono stage, tuner, dual auxiliary inputs, dual tape loops with monitoring and dubbing, tone controls, tone defeat, a stereo/mono reverse selector, and a subsonic filter. The SP-4 is renowned for its build quality, user-friendly controls, and engaging, musical sound. It is a full-function preamp, making it especially appealing to vinyl enthusiasts. The unit is housed in a walnut-veneered, oiled finish cabinet, reflecting its high-end pedigree and era of manufacture (1976–1977).
