About the REF 210

The Audio Research REF 210 is a tube monoblock amplifier that delivers 210 watts per channel continuously from 20Hz to 20kHz. It features a massive power supply with 787 joules of energy storage, proprietary coupling capacitors, and extensive film-cap bypassing of electrolytics. The amplifier uses three matched pairs of 6550C power output tubes, a matched pair of 6550C driver tubes, two 6N1P gain stage and regulator driver tubes, and one 6550C regulator tube. It has a frequency response of 0.5Hz to 240kHz (-3dB) and a total harmonic distortion typically 0.5% at full power and below 0.02% at 1 watt. The REF 210 has balanced input only and speaker output taps for 4, 8, and 16 ohm loads. It includes a 20A IEC power connector and a 12V trigger for remote turn-on. Sonically, it is praised for its vivid, transparent sound with real body and presence, an unbounded soundstage, fine dynamic shading, and exceptional bass impact and articulation. The amplifier weighs 74 lbs net and measures 19" W x 8-3/4" H x 19-1/2" D, with handles extending 1-1/2" forward. Power consumption is 680 watts at rated output and 380 watts at idle.
