About the LS3
The Audio Research Corporation LS3 is a solid-state stereo line-stage preamplifier introduced for the 1992–1993 model years. It uses a short, direct signal path, DC-coupled inputs, electronically regulated high- and low-voltage supplies, and a Class-A gain/output circuit. Features include multiple line-level inputs, a Direct Gain Path intended to bypass most switching and control circuitry, tape monitoring, and two sets of single-ended main outputs for driving multiple power amplifiers or bi-amping. The LS3B variant adds balanced outputs and has somewhat different specifications. This information refers to the original LS3, not the newer Audio Research LS-3 bearing the same model designation.
