About the Virgo III

The Audio Physic Virgo III is a high-end 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker using side-mounted active woofers and matching passive radiators in a push-push configuration to reduce cabinet vibration and extend bass response. It employs a 3/4-inch ring-radiator tweeter developed by Vifa and a 4.5-inch ceramic-coated aluminum midrange cone, mounted close together on a very narrow front baffle to approximate point-source behavior and minimize diffraction. Bass is handled by two pairs of 6.5-inch Nomex-membrane drivers on the cabinet sides, each pair consisting of one active woofer and one inverted-cone passive radiator, with the pairs mounted on internally decoupled sub-baffles to isolate the midrange and tweeter from mechanical vibration. The Virgo III is specified as a 3-way floorstander with 4-ohm nominal impedance, 90 dB/W/m sensitivity, 34 Hz to 40 kHz (+0/-3 dB) frequency response, and recommended amplifier power of 25 to 150 W. The cabinet measures 40 inches (H) by 6 inches (W) by 16 inches (D) and weighs 66 lb per speaker. Standard finish is black ash, with cherry, light maple, or rosenut veneers available at extra cost.
