About the Virgo III
The Audio Physic Virgo III is a high-end 3-way, passive-radiator, sealed-box loudspeaker designed for audiophiles seeking precise and natural sound. It features a 3/4" ring-radiator tweeter, a 4.5" ceramic-coated aluminum midrange cone, and two 6.5" woofers paired with two 6.5" passive radiators in a push-push configuration to minimize cabinet vibrations and enhance bass performance. The cabinet is compact (40" H x 6" W x 16" D) yet internally spacious, with advanced ceramic foam bracing that replaces traditional absorbing materials to reduce internal resonances and coloration. The drivers are mounted with neoprene dowels to further isolate vibrations. The crossover is split into three units assigned to each driver section, using high-quality components derived from Audio Physic's top models. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 90 dB/W/m, and a frequency response from 34 Hz to 40 kHz (-3 dB). Recommended amplifier power is 150 watts. The Virgo III is available in finishes including black ash, light maple, dark maple, or cherry veneer (the latter three with an additional cost). It weighs 66 lbs and includes WBT 5-way binding posts for input. Optional accessories include Audio Physic's VCF V M8 Magnetic vibration control feet to reduce micro-vibrations and improve sound clarity. The design emphasizes minimal cabinet width with a symmetrical 3D sound radiation pattern and a laminated hardwood front baffle shaped to minimize diffraction and reflections. The Virgo III continues Audio Physic's tradition of combining minimonitor performance with full-range extension in a room-friendly size.
