The Audio Note M6 preamplifier is engineered for maximum sonic performance, emphasizing purity of the incoming signal by minimizing circuit complexity. It operates in pure Class A, uses zero negative feedback, and employs a single-ended circuit topology with valve rectification. The M6 features an ECC82 and 7044 line stage and a 6X5 valve-rectified power supply based on the M10 Galahad PSU, including ECL82 voltage regulation and 5651 voltage stabilization. It uses high-quality Audio Note (UK) silver wiring, tantalum resistors, custom electrolytic capacitors, and copper foil signal capacitors. The output transformers are custom-designed with UHiB c-core, copper primary, and silver secondary windings. The M6 also includes a balanced output circuit and separate stepped attenuators for each channel, providing exceptional channel balance accuracy. Dimensions are 140mm (H) x 440mm (W) x 410mm (D), and it weighs 19.2 kg. The design philosophy prioritizes linearity and minimal transient distortion over conventional distortion measurements, avoiding corrective feedback loops to preserve musicality and signal purity.
