The Audio Note (UK) Kegon Mono Power Amplifiers are high-end, Pure Class A Parallel Single Ended valve amplifiers that use a pair of highly regarded 300B triode valves per channel. They are engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specifications, fulfilling Audio Note (UK) Level 5 criteria including Pure Class A operation, Zero Negative Feedback, Single Ended Output Stage, Valve Rectification, and Directly Heated Triode operation. Each amplifier is hand-assembled using the finest materials such as custom Audio Note silver-wound output transformers with AN-Perma 50% Nickel Double C cores, custom 2 Watt Tantalum resistors, Silver Foil capacitors, Silver internal wiring, and Black Gate capacitors in critical areas. The Kegon Mono delivers 18 Watts RMS per channel into 4 or 8 Ohm loads with a channel balance of +/- 0.3dB. It weighs 20kg and measures 195mm (H) x 205mm (W) x 500mm (D). The valve complement includes 2 x 5U4G (1 per chassis), 4 x 300B (2 per chassis), and 2 x 5692 or 2 x VT25/10Y (Balanced version). The amplifier consumes a maximum of 200 Watts and supports AC mains input of 100-120V or 220-240V at 50/60Hz. The design eliminates capacitors in the signal path, relying on silver-wired transformers for signal purity, and uses a valve-rectified choke-coupled power supply for stability and sound quality.
