About the AN/E
The Audio Note AN/E is a two-way, ported loudspeaker featuring a carefully designed cabinet that enhances driver dispersion and bass output. It has an effective bandwidth from 18 Hz to 23 kHz at -6 dB and an efficiency better than 95 dB/m with dynamic headroom above 108 dB. The crossover is simple and first order, using air-cored chokes and selected bipolar and polypropylene capacitors, with internal cabling of either 99.99% pure copper or silver wire depending on the model. The cabinet is lightly braced with minimal internal damping to preserve liveliness and is constructed from birch plywood or chipboard/MDF with real wood veneer finishes. Drivers are carefully selected and matched to the crossover for optimal performance. The speaker is well suited for high-quality, low-power triode amplifiers and is available in various internal wiring and driver configurations, including high-efficiency models reaching up to 98 dB sensitivity. Dimensions are approximately 790 mm high, 360 mm wide, and 270 mm deep, with a weight of about 23 kg per speaker. The AN/E series includes several variants such as AN-E/Lx, AN-E/SPe, and high-efficiency versions like AN-E/LX HE. The design philosophy emphasizes musicality, efficiency, and component quality, with many parts manufactured in-house by Audio Note in the UK.
