About the Ongaku Kensei

The Audio Note Ongaku Kensei is a Pure Class A Single Ended valve stereo power amplifier renowned for its exceptional sonic performance. It uses the highly regarded VT-4C / 211 triode valves and is designed with zero negative feedback and valve rectification. The amplifier features a single pair of balanced/XLR inputs connected to custom-designed, fully silver wired balanced input transformers, ideal for use with balanced output preamplifiers. Internally, it employs exclusively Audio Note (UK) silver wire for all wiring including transformers and power supply connections, Audio Note 2 watt Tantalum resistors, Black Gate Electrolytic and Audio Note silver foil capacitors. The driver and output transformers are fully silver wired AN-Perma 50 nickel C-core, and the mains transformer is a fully silver wired HiB double C core. Engineered for sonic purity rather than technical specifications, it fulfills Audio Note (UK) Level 5 criteria including Pure Class A operation, zero negative feedback, single ended output stage, valve rectification, directly heated triode operation, and the highest materials and component quality. It is widely regarded as one of the finest stereo chassis power amplifiers available today.
