About the M6 Phono

The Audio Note M6 Phono Pre Amplifier incorporates a valve line stage equipped with ECC82 and 7044 tubes and uses a 6X5 valve-rectified power supply based on the M10 Galahad PSU. It features Audio Note (UK) silver wiring, 1 Watt AN(UK) tantalum resistors, SILMIC filter capacitors, and Audio Note (UK) copper foil signal capacitors throughout the circuit. The output transformers are custom-designed by Audio Note (UK) with UHiB c-core, copper primary, and silver secondary windings. The M6 includes a correctly designed and implemented balanced output circuit. The phonostage is an exceptionally fine Moving Magnet design using three 5670 valves, Audio Note (UK) copper foil signal capacitors, pure silver wiring, and its own dedicated valve-regulated and rectified power supply. The preamp uses a single-ended, zero feedback circuit topology for maximum linearity and minimal transient distortion, avoiding corrective feedback loops. Volume control is managed by dedicated Audio Note (UK) stepped attenuators for each channel, providing superior channel balance accuracy. Technical specifications include input impedance of 100 kOhms for line level and 47 kOhms for phono, input sensitivity of 126mV for 1V output, output impedance less than 10 Ohms, gain of 16dB at 1 kHz for line level and 68dB for phono, and a unit weight of 16 kg. Dimensions are approximately 140mm (H) x 440mm (W) x 410mm (D). The unit is designed to preserve musicality by minimizing non-harmonic and time base distortions rather than focusing solely on low distortion measurements. It supports balanced CD input and is part of Audio Note's Level 4 criteria products.
