The Audio Note AN-J/SPe is a handcrafted loudspeaker from Audio Note (UK) known for its high sensitivity of 93 dB and a frequency response extending from 18 Hz to 23 kHz (-6 dB in room). It features a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and an 8-inch hemp cone bass driver with copper voice coils, housed in a birch plywood cabinet with real wood veneer finish. The speaker uses a simple yet effective first-order internal crossover with air-cored chokes and handpicked bipolar and polypropylene capacitors, and internal wiring of 99.99% pure copper (AN-D cable). The cabinet is rear-ported and designed to perform optimally when placed near rear walls or room corners, enhancing bass performance. Dimensions are 585 mm high, 330 mm wide, and 235 mm deep, with a weight of approximately 13 kg per speaker. The AN-J/SPe is capable of realistic scale and intensity reproduction of well-recorded music, with a minimum amplifier power of 7 watts RMS per channel and a maximum of 150 watts RMS peak. It supports bi-wiring through silver binding posts and is available in various high-quality wood veneers with satin, high gloss, or piano gloss finishes. The speaker is praised for its natural tonality, dynamic presentation, and ability to reveal amplifier characteristics clearly.
