About the Tubadour III SE
The Audio Mirror Tubadour III SE is a legacy, non-oversampling (NOS) R-2R digital-to-analog converter with a vacuum-tube I/V and output stage. It is built around the Analog Devices AD1865N-K multibit DAC chip and accepts AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF, optical Toslink, and USB digital sources; I²S was offered as an option. The Special Edition upgrades the standard Tubadour III with Duelund signal-path capacitors, naked Vishay Z-Foil resistors in the I/V and tube circuitry, OSCON capacitors in the USB/I²S supply sections, a Furutech gold-plated IEC inlet, and four IsoAcoustics GAIA isolation feet. It is supplied with NOS Sylvania 5977 subminiature triodes, installed through adapters in 9-pin sockets. The DAC is native PCM only; DSD is supported only when playback software converts it to PCM on the fly. Audio Mirror identifies the Tubadour III SE as a legacy product, while the company’s later Tubadour IV and V models supersede it.
