The Audio-GD R28 mk3 is a premium DAC and headphone amplifier featuring fully discrete R-2R resistor ladder DAC modules and native DSD decoding. It supports PCM up to 32bit/384kHz and DSD up to DSD512 with asynchronous USB transfer via an Amanero interface. The device includes two gain modes (12dB low gain for sensitive headphones and 22dB high gain for harder-to-drive headphones like the HE6), with the option to increase gain further to 28-34dB. It offers multiple digital inputs (USB, Coaxial, Toslink, I2S) and balanced analog inputs (XLR), plus three analog outputs (RCA, XLR, and proprietary ACSS). The front panel has two headphone outputs: a 6.3mm unbalanced jack and a 4-pin XLR balanced connector. The volume control uses relay-switched resistors for precise, distortion-free adjustment. The R28 mk3 features dual transformers with separate power supplies, 10 ultra-high-speed linear power supplies, and two pure Class A power supplies.
