About the R7

The Audio-GD R-7 is a high-end pure DAC (no preamp or volume control) built around a fully discrete, true balanced R2R ladder architecture using four DA-7 V2 modules for each channel's conversion stage. Digital processing is handled by an FPGA with FIFO buffering and reclocking, providing optimized high-speed ladder correction and selectable oversampling/NOS modes. The R-7 uses high-quality low-jitter clocking (Accusilicon and Crystek/TCXO oscillators) and an asynchronous Amanero USB interface supporting PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and native DSD up to DSD512 via USB/I2S, with lower rates via SPDIF/AES. It offers a full set of digital inputs (USB, I2S over HDMI, AES/EBU, BNC, coaxial RCA, optical) and three analog output types (RCA, XLR, and current-mode ACSS) for flexible system integration. The power supply is heavily over-specified for a DAC, with multiple R-core transformers, extensive linear regulation and shunt regulators, and fully discrete Class A analog stages, contributing to its robust build, high dynamic range and low noise performance. The unit is housed in a large all-aluminum chassis, has no remote control or network functions, and is intended solely as a reference-grade standalone DAC.
