About the Master 3
The Audio-gd Master 3 is a robust and heavy power amplifier designed with thick aluminum panels, weighing 40 kg. It features a true balanced design with four amplifiers built into the chassis and employs a unique ACSS current gain stage architecture for a neutral and clean sound. The amplifier delivers 250W per channel at 8 ohms, doubling to 500W at 4 ohms and 1000W at 2 ohms, supported by a very stable power supply with four transformers (two toroidal for current stage and two R-Core for voltage stage) totaling 1500W and 140,000 uF capacitance. It uses 24 ON Semiconductor transistors in the output stage and applies a patented "Linear Fidelity" technology with non-negative feedback output stages to maintain low distortion and excellent linearity across frequencies. The amplifier supports both XLR and ACSS inputs, with input sensitivity of 2.2V RMS at XLR and 2mA RMS at ACSS, and input impedance of 94K ohms at XLR and less than 10 ohms at ACSS. The design avoids switch distortion typical of class A amps and achieves a high idle current state with diamond cross output stage design. The Master 3 is handmade with audiophile-grade components including DALE resistors, WIMA capacitors, and gold-plated connectors. Dimensions are approximately 48 cm wide, 44 cm deep, and 19 cm high. It is regarded as a highly resolving and neutral amplifier, capable of driving complex loudspeakers with ease.
