The Audeze EL-8 Closed-Back are over-ear planar magnetic headphones featuring 100 mm drivers with Fluxor magnetic arrays and high-grade neodymium magnets, specified for a frequency response of 10 Hz to 50 kHz and a maximum SPL over 130 dB. With an impedance of 30 ohms and sensitivity around 100 dB/1 mW, they are efficient enough to be driven by portable devices, but achieve best performance when paired with a quality external headphone amplifier. The closed-back circumaural design improves isolation and greatly reduces sound leakage, making them suitable for use in noisier environments. Audeze's patented technologies are employed throughout: Fazor elements to improve phase response, imaging and treble extension; Uniforce diaphragms to equalize driving force and lower distortion; and Fluxor magnets to increase flux density and efficiency while reducing weight. Designed in collaboration with BMW DesignworksUSA, the EL-8 Closed-Back combine advanced planar technology with a relatively lightweight, portable form factor that folds flat for transport. The headphones weigh approximately 480 grams without cable and typically ship with a detachable cable (around 2 m, depending on region) and a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter.
