About the LA1

The Artemis Labs LA-1 is a tube line-level preamplifier using one 5687 medium-mu, low-resistance triode per channel in the company’s Cool-Swap configuration. It provides five stereo RCA inputs, two pairs of RCA outputs, and a 24-position Goldpoint stepped attenuator, along with a dual conductive-plastic balance control. Maximum gain is approximately 12 dB, and the circuit is designed to drive loads as low as 8 kΩ. The LA-1 uses soft heater turn-on, delayed high-voltage application, and output muting during power-up. Its point-to-point construction uses military-style terminal boards and selected components, including custom-wound chokes and metal-film resistors. The unit measures approximately 165 × 216 × 371 mm and weighs about 10 kg.
