The Art Audio Jota-HC is a high current version of the classic Jota SET stereo integrated tube amplifier designed for medium efficiency speakers. It delivers an honest 20 to 24 watts per channel in pure Class A single-ended triode operation with zero feedback. The amplifier features a polished stainless steel chassis with gold-plated accents and an optional volume control. It uses a tube complement including 6922 gain stage tubes, 12BH7 gain and cathode follower tubes, Mullard CV 378 rectifier tubes, and output tubes such as Emission Labs 520B v3 (24W), KR VV32B (20W), or KR 300BXLS (18W). The Jota-HC has a high input sensitivity of 400 mV and input impedance selectable between 180k and 380k ohms, making it easy to drive from digital sources or preamps. It has a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB at full rated power and weighs approximately 70 lbs. The amplifier is known for its quiet operation, minimal distortion, excellent midrange and treble voicing, and refined sound quality. It is recommended for classical or small jazz combos and medium sensitivity speakers (90-98 dB efficiency). The design includes split-core output transformers exclusive to Art Audio, contributing to its sonic performance. The Jota-HC is a dual-mono construction sharing only the power transformer and is highly regarded for its musical clarity and emotional engagement.
