About the Custom 300B PSET

The Aric Audio Custom 300B PSET is a hand-built, two-chassis stereo vacuum-tube power amplifier that can operate either as a conventional single-ended-triode (SET) amplifier with one 300B per channel or as a parallel single-ended-triode (PSET) amplifier with two 300Bs per channel. It uses a 6SN7 SRPP input stage, triode-strapped 6V6 driver stage, and transformer coupling into the 300B output stage. Its separate high-current power supply employs dual 6CG3 damper-diode rectifiers, a 1 A toroidal transformer, multiple chokes, film-capacitor filtering, DC tube filaments, and slow high-voltage start. The PSET configuration is specified at 18 W RMS per channel and is intended to support loads down to 4 ohms; SET mode is specified at 9 W RMS per channel and is intended for 8-ohm loudspeakers. Aric Audio specifies custom output transformers with silver lead-out wires, custom interstage transformers, Miflex copper-foil coupling capacitors, copper-lined chassis, gold-plated sockets/jacks, Vishay resistors, Schottky filament-supply diodes, and point-to-point wiring. The current manufacturer listing indicates RCA inputs; an associated product document also lists RCA and XLR, so XLR availability should be confirmed with Aric Audio for a particular build.
