About the Argent Room Lens
The Argent Room Lens is a reactive resonator designed by Ric Cummins that disperses and refracts sound rather than passively absorbing it. Each unit consists of three vertical tubes approximately 58 inches long and 2.5 inches in diameter, mounted in a base made from Rosinante's proprietary 'Dark Matter' material. The tubes act as Helmholtz resonators and diffusers, affecting frequencies primarily above 800 Hz and up to about 16 kHz, breaking up and diffusing side and front wall reflections to reduce coherent reflections and improve imaging and soundstage depth. The device re-radiates a diffuse sound field in an almost 360-degree pattern, minimizing direct reflections to the listening position. Typically sold in sets of three, the Room Lens units are placed strategically in the listening room to optimize soundstage width, depth, and focus. The base has adjustable feet for height and stability, and the entire unit is painted black with a mesh covering the tube openings at the base. The Room Lens is considered a high-end, specialized tool for serious audiophiles to tame room acoustics and enhance system performance.
