About the 4T2
The Aragon 4T2 is a vintage AM/FM stereo digital tuner that features a sleek and simple design with precision tuning capabilities. It is highly regarded for its ability to pull in distant radio stations clearly, delivering great sound quality. The tuner includes fixed and variable RCA outputs and a 75-Ohm F-style antenna connector. Internally, it uses a sealed varactor equivalent of a 6-gang RF front end module, with double tuning before the RF amplifier. The intermediate frequency (IF) section employs Sanyo LA1222, Toshiba TA7302P, and Hitachi HA12412 chips, with the latter implementing a quadrature detector. The MPX functionality is handled by the Hitachi HA11223W chip, and audio output is driven by dual NJM4560d dual op-amps. The 4T2 is noted for its quiet operation, well-balanced soundstage with a slight forward character, deep bass, smooth extended highs, and a natural, dynamic sound. It is considered a rare and collectible tuner with a clean, simple layout that has aged well.
