About the TV HD
Apple TV HD, also known as the 4th generation Apple TV, was introduced in 2015. It features a 32GB or 64GB storage option (64GB discontinued in 2017), powered by a dual-core Apple A8 chip with 64-bit architecture and 2GB RAM. It supports 1080p HD video playback but does not support 4K. Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, IR receiver, and a USB-C port for service and support. The device runs on tvOS and requires an Apple ID for purchases and rentals. The included Siri Remote features Bluetooth 4.0, IR transmitter, accelerometer, and gyro, with a rechargeable battery charged via Lightning connector. The Apple TV HD supports a wide range of video and audio formats including HEVC SDR up to 1080p, H.264, MPEG-4 video, and audio formats such as HE-AAC, AAC, MP3, Apple Lossless, FLAC, and Dolby Digital 5.1. It also includes accessibility features like VoiceOver, Zoom, and Closed Caption support. The device has a built-in power supply and requires an HDMI cable (sold separately). It is no longer the latest model, having been succeeded by Apple TV 4K.
