About the DTR-MR

The APL Hi-Fi DTR-MR is a reference CD/SACD transport designed primarily for use with APL Hi-Fi DSD-MR and DSD-SR digital-to-analog converters. It reads standard CDs, SACDs, and DVD-R discs containing DSF files, then sends CD data or SACD DSD to a compatible DAC. Its proprietary 10-pin DTR connection transmits the complete SACD/DSD signal path, with DSD from SACD transported in an encrypted/DoP-encapsulated proprietary format due to Sony copyright restrictions. AES/EBU and coaxial outputs are also provided, but these outputs function with CD playback only. The unit uses a Furutech NCF IEC inlet and separate standby and main-power fusing. Available documentation identifies the product as the DTR-MR; the similarly named DTR-MR SE is a different revision with an eight-pin DTR connection and should not be confused with this model.
