The Antique Sound Labs AQ-1009 is a high-end tube power amplifier delivering 60 watts per channel in Class A triode mode using two 845 tubes per amplifier. It features a stereo push-pull design with EL34 and 12AU7 tubes as drivers. The amplifier is known for its exceptional dynamic contrasts, large soundstage, and immediate sound reproduction, making a strong visual and musical statement. It has a frequency response of 15Hz to 45kHz at 1 watt and 20Hz to 25kHz at full power, with distortion under 0.5% at 1 watt and under 3% at full power. The input sensitivity is 1V with an input impedance of 100K ohms, and it supports 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker loads. The amplifier requires 400W power and uses a 5A slow blow fuse. The chassis is finished in anodized aluminum with options for gold, silver, or black, and it weighs 29 kg net. Biasing and maintenance require some technical skill, including adjustments for the 845 output tubes. It is no longer in production but remains highly regarded for its sound quality and build.
