About the Pre-1

The Anthem Pre-1 is a full-function tube stereo preamplifier from Sonic Frontiers' Anthem line, featuring an all-tube audio signal path, an optional built-in phono stage for MM and MC cartridges, and a separate outboard power supply. The line stage uses four 6922/6DJ8-family tubes, and units fitted with the optional phono module add additional small-signal tubes for RIAA equalization and gain. Connectivity includes multiple high-level inputs (such as CD, tuner, aux), a tape/processor loop, and main outputs on unbalanced RCA jacks. The external power supply connects via an umbilical cable and contains a tube-rectified high-voltage supply (5AR4/GZ34) in conjunction with solid-state regulation for stable operation and low noise. The front panel provides rotary controls for input selection, balance, and volume, along with pushbuttons for tape/processor loop, mute, and power/standby functions. The Pre-1 is known for its clean, warm, and detailed presentation with a notably high-quality phono stage, and is regarded as a musically engaging, well-built entry into high-end tube preamplification.
