About the MRX-740

The Anthem MRX-740 is a 7.2-channel A/V receiver with 11.2 channels of processing and 7 channels of amplification, designed for high-performance home theater use. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced for immersive surround sound, and uses a hybrid amplification topology with 140 watts per channel (Class AB) for the main five bed channels and 60 watts per channel (Class D) for the remaining two channels (typically surround/height) into 8 ohms. The MRX-740 includes ARC Genesis (Anthem Room Correction) with a calibrated microphone, a web-based user interface, built-in Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect, and Roon support, plus 11.2-channel pre-outs for system expansion. HDMI connectivity provides 7 inputs and multiple outputs with eARC, supporting 4K HDR formats (Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG) and, in the current 8K version, HDMI 2.1 with up to 8K video pass-through or upgradeability to 8K depending on model/production run.
