The Ampex 351-2 is a high-quality, professional two-track reel-to-reel tape recorder and reproducer designed for precision recording and playback. It features a four-stage, high-gain record amplifier using tube electronics with dual triode tubes, and a reproduce amplifier with three dual triodes. The machine supports tape speeds of 7½ and 15 inches per second, with frequency response up to 15 kHz at 15 ips and a signal-to-noise ratio of 60 dB (full track). It uses half-track mono or two-track stereo configurations with permalloy heads and includes features such as NAB equalization, balanced or unbalanced inputs and outputs, and precise timing accuracy within 0.2%.
