About the VT2
The Altec Lansing VT-2 is a dual channel vacuum tube microphone preamplifier that features an all vacuum-tube design with four class-A triode amplifier sections in two tubes per channel. It is hand-built on a heavy-gauge aluminum chassis with point-to-point wiring, using carefully selected vacuum tubes for minimum noise and microphonics. The VT-2 includes sealed, gold-contact precision relays for all audio switching to eliminate dirty contacts and maintain sound quality. It offers features such as Lo-Z input for transformerless microphones, phase reverse switch, +48V phantom power, a switchable 43 dB pad for line level processing, custom Jensen input and output transformers, true VU meters, gold input/output XLR connectors, and polypropylene and polystyrene coupling capacitors. It is CE certified, RoHS-compliant, and designed for international operation on 100, 120, or 220 VAC at 50/60 Hz. The unit is built for stability and long life with conservatively rated precision components and rugged construction.
