About the Valencia 846B
The Valencia 846B, produced by Altec Lansing from 1965 to 1974, is a highly regarded vintage floor-standing loudspeaker system. It features a 2-way design with a 38 cm cone woofer (model 416-8A) for low frequencies and a horn-type high-frequency driver (Altec 806-8A with horn 811B). The crossover frequency is set at 800 Hz. The speaker uses a bass reflex cabinet design and has an impedance of 8 ohms. It delivers a playback frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, with an allowable input power of 50 watts continuous program and a sound pressure level of 100 dB (New JIS). The cabinet dimensions are approximately 673 mm wide, 752 mm high, and 514 mm deep, weighing about 44.9 kg. The Valencia 846B is known for its clear, loud sound and has inspired later models such as the Altec Model 19.
