About the 15
The Altec Lansing Model 15 (also branded Model Fifteen) is a two-way, floorstanding bass-reflex loudspeaker system using a 12-inch woofer and a horn high-frequency driver, designed for high-fidelity home listening with strong dynamics and extended frequency response. It employs a vented bass-reflex enclosure with a radial phase-plug compression driver mounted to a curved radial horn, offering wide dispersion and smooth, clear mid and high frequencies along with robust low-frequency performance down to around 30 Hz. The system includes level controls in the crossover network for tailoring mid and high-frequency output, and is intended to deliver high output, around 60 W long-term power handling, with sensitivity in the low-90 dB SPL range, making it suitable for use with moderate-power amplifiers in domestic environments. Cabinets are finished in hand-rubbed oiled American Walnut or Oak, with acoustically transparent foam grilles on removable panels.
