About the 45 SET mono blocks
The Alan Eaton 45 SET mono blocks are single-ended Class A audio amplifiers built with 45 triode vacuum tubes and vintage power and output transformers. These amplifiers emphasize the importance of the first watt for great sound and use only the best vintage triode output tubes. Each mono block amplifier has its own dedicated power supply and rectifier tube, ensuring total channel separation and reducing sound bleed crossover. The design uses a 6SN7 driver tube and a 6AX5 rectifier tube, allowing for tube rolling and customization. The chassis features durable crinkle black paint and vintage UTC chokes, contributing to both sound quality and aesthetic appeal. Users report excellent fidelity, dynamic sound, and the ability to fine-tune hum and gain controls for optimal performance with sensitive speakers (around 97 dB sensitivity). These amplifiers produce about 1.5 watts per channel, suitable for high-efficiency speakers and smaller listening rooms. The build quality is clean and functional, with a style reminiscent of vintage military equipment. The amplifiers are handmade in the USA and are not shipped outside the US directly. They are highly regarded for their sound signature, combining richness, detail, and a unique tonal balance between 6A3 and 300B tubes.
