The Aesthetix Saturn Calypso Signature is an all-tube line stage preamplifier designed for audiophile and home cinema systems. It features fully balanced differential circuitry from input to output, including internal balancing of single-ended inputs, which results in common mode signal rejection and a very clean sound. The unit uses zero feedback and a discrete switched resistor volume control with 88 1dB steps to maximize resolution at any listening level. The Signature version upgrades the standard Calypso by replacing polypropylene coupling capacitors with custom-made inter-stage Teflon hybrid capacitors and 4uF Dynamicaps output capacitors, improving resolution, bass extension, and dynamics while reducing grain. It also includes highly specialized adjustable air-core capacitors for precise tuning, Harmonic Resolutions Systems Nimbus Couplers for lower noise floor and more air and space, and matched tubes selected from a special stock. The chassis is made of rigid, acoustically inert aluminum and is available in black or silver faceplate. The preamplifier offers two sets of XLR and RCA outputs per channel, home theatre bypass mode, absolute phase selection via front panel or remote, and a full function remote control. Power consumption is 20 watts in standby and 60 watts active. The Calypso Signature is praised for its tonal purity, high resolution, and ability to present vocals and complex music with clarity and intimacy.
