About the Janus Eclipse
The Aesthetix Janus Eclipse is an advanced all-tube preamplifier combining the key features of the Rhea phono stage and Calypso linestage into a single chassis. It offers six line level inputs and one phono input, with fully balanced differential line-level circuitry capable of internally balancing single-ended input signals. The unit includes RCA and XLR connectors for each input, discrete resistor volume control with 88 1dB steps, zero feedback, and a built-in MC cartridge demagnetizer. It supports 9 MC loading settings from 75 to 47,000 ohms, selectable via front panel or remote control, and provides two sets of XLR and RCA outputs per channel. The Eclipse version features significant internal upgrades: twelve .22uF / 600V Stealth coupling capacitors between gain stages, replacement of four 2uF / 400V coupling capacitors with Stealth copper foil 4uF/400V capacitors in the output stage for improved low frequency response, hand-adjusted high frequency tuning capacitors for a tight 0.1dB frequency response standard, isolation-mounted transformers and choke, Harmonic Resolutions Systems’ Nimbus Couplers replacing rubber feet, enhanced ventilation in the power supply, additional damping material in the chassis, and a single point ground system for transformer cases. These refinements reduce extraneous noise and improve overall sound quality. The preamplifier is available with black or silver faceplates and includes a full-function remote control. It is part of Aesthetix's Saturn Series and has received global praise including TAS Editor's Choice Awards in 2010 and 2011. Existing Janus units can be factory upgraded to Eclipse specification.
