About the Io Signature
The Aesthetix IO Signature is a two-box, all-tube phono stage introduced in 2006, featuring a separate vacuum tube regulated power supply with 8 tubes and a phono stage with 16 tubes total. It offers high gain (up to 80dB) with very low noise, zero feedback, and flexible user-selectable loading from 10 ohms to 47K ohms, making it compatible with a wide range of cartridges. The unit includes both RCA and XLR inputs and outputs, with optional mechanically switched discrete resistor volume control with 46 steps for precise level adjustment. The Signature version uses exotic and expensive coupling capacitors, including custom-made inter-stage Teflon capacitors, and Cardas Teflon coated wiring for superior sound quality. The phono stage circuitry consists of three main amplification sections and an output buffer, all tube-based, with a purely passive RIAA filter using high-grade capacitors and non-inductive resistors. The power supply features high voltage insulated transformers with damping materials to reduce mechanical noise. The IO Signature is highly regarded for its ability to handle low output moving coil cartridges with excellent resolution and low noise, and it can be used as a standalone preamplifier with volume control. It weighs approximately 350 watts power consumption and has a frequency response of ±0.25 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The unit is no longer in current production but remains a sought-after classic high-end phono stage.
