About the 8

The Aerial Acoustics Model 8 is a three-way, floorstanding loudspeaker designed for high-performance home stereo systems, combining wide bandwidth with natural, balanced tonality. It uses a 1" titanium-dome tweeter, a 7.1" paper/composite-cone midrange driver, and a 10.7" woofer, all mounted in a substantial rear-ported enclosure. The crossover network is a fourth-order acoustic Linkwitz-Riley design with crossover points at 250 Hz and 2.5 kHz, yielding a specified frequency response of 28 Hz-22 kHz (±2 dB) with low-frequency extension to 23 Hz at -6 dB. Nominal impedance is 6 Ω with a minimum of 3.5 Ω, and sensitivity is rated at 86 dB (2.83 V/1 m, on-axis), so the speakers are considered amplifier-friendly but respond best to robust amplification: 50 W per channel is the minimum, while 100 W or more of clean power is recommended for realistic listening levels. Each loudspeaker measures approximately 45" (H) x 9" (W) x 20" (D) and weighs about 120 lb. The Model 8 is known among enthusiasts for deep, articulate bass, a coherent midrange, and overall neutral, well-balanced sound, with the bass system closely related to that of the flagship 10T. Optional sand-fillable, spiked stands were offered to enhance stability and bass performance. Production of the original Model 8 has ceased, and it is now available only on the used market, though Aerial Acoustics continues as an active manufacturer.
