About the CC5
The Aerial Acoustics CC5 is a 3-way, sealed-box center-channel loudspeaker engineered to provide very high dialogue intelligibility, natural vocal timbre, and wide dynamic range in demanding home theater systems. It uses twin 9-inch damped-fiber cone woofers, a 6-inch damped-fiber cone midrange, and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter in a horizontally oriented layout, essentially adapting the company's LR5 technology for center-channel use. The specified frequency response is 40Hz-22kHz (±2dB) with crossover points at 360Hz and 2.8kHz, a nominal impedance of 4Ω (3Ω minimum), and sensitivity of 86dB/2.83V/m, so it benefits from robust amplification in the 100-500W range. The enclosure is an inert, non-ported sealed cabinet designed to minimize box coloration, and two rear-panel switches (Environment and Treble Level) allow subtle tailoring of low-frequency boundary compensation and high-frequency balance to suit placement and room acoustics. Measuring approximately 28" (W) x 9.8" (H) x 22" (D) and weighing about 97 lb, the CC5 is a large, high-mass center channel intended for use on a sturdy stand or furniture, not on lightweight display tops. It is offered in premium real-wood finishes such as Black Ash, Natural Cherry, Rose Walnut, Rosewood, and Bird's-Eye Maple, and is voiced to integrate seamlessly with Aerial's LR5 and LR3 main speakers and SW12 subwoofer in a reference-class surround system.
