About the PH1

The AcousTech PH1 is a premium solid-state phono preamplifier designed by Ron Sutherland, known for its high resolution and transparency in audio reproduction. It is a dual-mono construction unit built with high-quality components such as 3/32" thick circuit boards, an oversized regulated power supply, RC filtering, Wima polypropylene capacitors, Dale 1% resistors, and fast-switching diodes. The PH1 supports both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges with highly adjustable gain and loading settings. It is rated as a Stereophile Class A phono preamp and weighs approximately 20 lbs. The unit is designed to be left powered on continuously for optimal performance and is praised for its revealing sound and large, deep soundstage. It has a simple interface with four RCA jacks, a grounding screw, and a power cord outlet, with no power switch by design.
