About the DP777
The Abbingdon Music Research DP-777 is a premier-class digital-to-analog converter and processor housed in a robust aluminum chassis. It features a unique Gemini Digital Engine with two DAC chips: a Wolfson 32-bit DAC optimized for high-resolution audio and a Philips UDA1305 16-bit DAC for standard CD-quality playback. The DP-777 employs a valve-based analog output stage using Russian 6H1n-EV dual-triode tubes for amplification and a 6H11P tube for the SPDIF input amplifier, which helps maintain a clean digital signal waveform. It includes AMR's proprietary Valve Digital Input (VDi) technology that eliminates jitter and noise from SPDIF inputs, ensuring pristine signal integrity. The unit supports multiple digital inputs including USB, AES/EBU, BNC, TOSLINK, and coaxial, with asynchronous USB 24/192 playback. It also features a silver-relay analog volume control with 71 steps and can be used as a direct-coupled preamplifier. The DP-777 offers selectable digital filters and DAC modes, Zero-Jitter Mode, and Global Master Timing to minimize distortion and jitter. The front panel has a monochromatic display and touch-sensitive controls, with a remote control for extensive functionality. Dimensions are 45 x 12 x 37 cm, weight approximately 16 kg, and it is available in silver or black finishes. The DP-777 is highly regarded for its rich, creamy bass, natural midrange, and expansive soundstage, making it a favorite among audiophiles seeking musical perfection.
