About Victor (JVC, NIVICO)
Victor (JVC, NIVICO) refers to the Japanese audio and electronics brand that originated as the Victor Talking Machine Company of Japan in 1927. Later known as JVC (Japan Victor Company) and occasionally branded as NIVICO (Nippon Victor Corporation) for markets outside Japan, the company became renowned for its pioneering work in consumer electronics, including Japan's first televisions and the development of the VHS video recorder. In Japan, Victor products were sold under the "Victor" name, while JVC and NIVICO were used internationally due to branding rights. After merging with Kenwood in 2008, the Victor brand remains a high-end HiFi marque within JVCKenwood, and its legacy encompasses a broad range of products from radios and record players to quadraphonic audio systems and innovative video technology.
