Packard Bell is a historic electronics brand originally founded in 1933 in Los Angeles, initially known for making radios and later televisions. Revived in 1986 as a personal computer company, Packard Bell became a major player in the U.S. home PC market during the 1990s, leveraging recognizable branding and widespread retail distribution. The brand changed ownership multiple times, including acquisitions by NEC and Acer. Since 2018, Packard Bell has been owned in North America by Southern Telecom, which has relaunched the brand for a new generation of consumer electronics, including computers and tablets, building on its legacy in accessible technology.
