About New England Audio Resource
New England Audio Resource (N.E.A.R.) is a respected HiFi audio brand known for developing innovative loudspeakers in the 1980s and 1990s. Originally an offshoot of the vintage company Bogen, the brand was based in Connecticut before relocating to Maine. N.E.A.R. gained recognition for its pioneering use of lightweight metal cone drivers, eschewing conventional spider suspensions for improved sonic purity. Their Metal Diaphragm Technology and 'NEAR-Perfect' driver cones allowed for exceptional clarity and minimal coloration. The company was eventually acquired by Bogen Communications, under which the NEAR brand continued to operate, specializing in high-performance residential and commercial speakers.
