About Madrigal Audio Labs

Madrigal Audio Labs was founded in the mid-1980s by Sanford (Sandy) Berlin and quickly became a major player in the high-end audio market. The company acquired the Mark Levinson brand in 1985, further building its reputation for producing reference-class amplifiers and audio components. Under Madrigal, additional brands such as Proceed, Audioaccess, and Imaging were developed or acquired, expanding its portfolio of high-fidelity audio products. Madrigal became known for uncompromising engineering and design, setting industry standards in both home audio and, later, automotive audio through the Mark Levinson Lexus partnership. Harman International made a capital investment in 1993 and completed acquisition in 1995, ultimately absorbing Madrigal into the Harman Specialty Group in 2002. Madrigal Audio Labs ceased independent operations in 2003.
