About King Cello (Andrea Amati)
The "King" Cello is not a HiFi audio brand but the name of the oldest surviving cello in existence, crafted by Andrea Amati of the Cremonese Amati family in the mid-16th century. This historically significant instrument, originally a large bass violin, features elaborate painting and gilding with the coat of arms and motto of King Charles IX of France. Over centuries, it has undergone several dimensional reductions and repairs, notably in 1801 in Paris. Today, the "King" Cello is housed in the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota, and is renowned for its artistry, royal provenance, and role in the development of stringed instruments, not for audio electronics or commercial HiFi products.
